An inventiveness worth more than money

When Delfín Mejías García, Mechanization Specialist of the Central Workshop of the Agroindustrial Company of Grains Valle del Caonao, in Yaguajay, learned of the need to manufacture a machine that would benefit and classify the entity's charcoal for export, he knew from that moment that his troop of innovators and inventors would solve the problem.

The project appeared immediately and began the search for resources in all the places where pieces of metallic elements left over from other productions were stored.
"In the search for prototypes, we took a look at a machine used to harvest beans, remodeled, inserted ideas, scraps of the needed raw material appeared, and a turner, welder and other workers began to flesh out the ideas," says Delfín. .
Less than a month was enough to get the new charcoal processing machine ready for export from the Valle del Caonao Agro-industrial Grain Company.
For Ana Compte Ortiz, Export Specialist of the entity, the event is of singular importance.
First, she says, we achieve a machine that, according to our main client, brings together the benefits that neither imported nor others manufactured in the country have.
The operating principle itself, with an eccentric that facilitates the work of the trio of sieves or sieves, makes it possible to benefit and classify the coal at the same time, with two superior qualities, plus char and dust, all marketable and, as a distinction, not part coal, which is entirely processed here, Ana argues.
With the new machine the reduction of the costs of benefit and classification are now minimal.
Before this machine was finished, the coal produced for export at the Valle del Caonao Agroindustrial Grain Company had to travel from Iguará to Ceballos, in Ciego de Ávila, on an itinerary of more than a hundred kilometers on the outward journey. the same figure in the return of the vehicles, with the respective expense of fuel and others.
In addition, in that transfer, the load always suffers even if it is well protected.
The acquisition abroad of this type of small machine costs Cuba about 5,000 dollars and the cost of the one made in the workshop does not exceed 1,000 pesos in national currency.
Since it began operating, the Valle del Caonao Agroindustrial Company of Grains has benefited and classified the coal, which already covers four containers, ready in port for export, and the process continues.
Once again, the movement of innovators responds to a demand of the national economy. It would be worthwhile to generalize the new machine to benefit and classify the coal devised in the entity's mechanization workshop, at a minimal cost and with an estimated contribution.
