Miguel González Velázquez, head of the Provincial Directorate of Labor and Social Security (DPTSS) assured 26 that despite this figure, in Las Tunas the jobs available are below the expectations and real needs of the working-age population, since in the same period, more than 11 thousand job applications have been received and 32 percent have not been able to materialize their work endeavors. "In this calendar, self-employment received a notable increase," said the manager. More than 5 thousand 544 people were hired in different activities of the non-state sector, in such a way that of those located at work in 2021, 72.7 percent became part of small private businesses. “At the moment we have 404 places available. Agriculture is the organism that demands the most workforce, especially for the production of charcoal. The Agroforestry and Flora and Fauna company requires personnel to undertake their state commission and are in a position to assume an increase in positions. “In the province, the municipalities with the most unfavorable situation are Jesús Menéndez, Majibacoa and Las Tunas. Since the Ordinance Task began, many people from Las Tunas interested in obtaining a job placement have approached the Municipal Labor Directorate, but most have not accepted our proposals, because they do not meet their demands or because they need a qualification that they do not have " . González Velázquez pointed out the Local Development Projects as one of the avenues to be exploited. “It is a challenge to achieve a job offer that truly responds to what people are looking for and that also contributes to the development of the territory. The epidemiological situation limited us a lot this year, but several projects are still pending that must begin to materialize for the benefit of the population. " With the incentive to promote new trades in the territory, the DPTSS and the University of Las Tunas have carried out a survey in all municipalities, with the aim of evaluating the objective needs of each locality and its potentialities. In the remainder of 2021, it is expected that another 109 jobs will be generated in Las Tunas by way of investments belonging to the state sector, mainly in the municipalities of Jesús Menéndez, Majibacoa and Jobabo. There are also 16 projects pending from the previous year that will generate around 100 new jobs. For their part, private enterprises emerge as the best option to satisfy personal demands, mainly in the current context, in which there is evidence of a relaxation of the laws regarding self-employment. For more information and at the request of the interested parties, the website of the Ministry of Labor and Social Security (MTSS) is enabled, which makes it possible to make visible the job offers of each territory, so that the process is more transparent and interactive.
