The agricultural, forestry and tobacco sector of Artemisa is recognized

Structures and members of the National Union of Agricultural, Forestry and Tobacco Workers (SNTAFT) in Artemisa were recognized today as part of the conference of this organization in greeting to its fifth anniversary of its creation, to be held on December 12.

Chaired by Néstor Bárbaro Hernández Martínez, general secretary of the SNTAFT, and based in the Mausoleum to the Martyrs of Artemisa, the tribute included the delivery of the V Anniversary Commemorative Plaque, instituted for the only time to recognize the Superior Organizations of State Direction (OSDE) of the sector, to the Artemisa Agroforestry Business Group. At the proposal of the National Union of Health Workers and the Ministry of Public Health, the Provincial Delegation of Agriculture was recognized with the Merit Seal for Humanism, Sensitivity and Solidarity, while three workers received the Marcos Martí and Carlos Baliño Distinctions for their uninterrupted work in the sector for 20 and 25 years. The province union praised the work of the Porcine, Poultry, Twisted Tobacco, Lazaro Peña Collection and Processing Companies and Los Naranjos Genetics Cattle Companies, the Base Business Unit (UEB), the Western Honey Processing Plant and the Basic Units Cooperative Production (UBPC) November 30 and Batalla de las Guásimas. Mayle Valdés González, general secretary of the SNTAFT in Artemisa, highlighted that the organization has matured in its five years of life, has a more capable structure and the goal will always be to fulfill the plans due to their impact on the economic and social life of the country. Néstor Bárbaro Hernández Martínez, general secretary of the SNTAFT, told ACN that the formation of this union responded to the restructuring process of the Ministry of Agriculture and has deep historical roots since the three unions that comprise it were founded by Commander in Chief Fidel Castro Ruz. That is why, and because of the importance of keeping the history of Cuba and the union movement alive, he added, that every year the Tobacco Worker Day (May 29), the Forest Worker Day (June 21) and the of the Agricultural Worker (October 3). He stressed that the SNTAFT is made up of some 360 ??thousand members, the third with the most membership in the country (surpassed by those of Education and Public Health) and with great responsibility in areas as vital as food production, export and replacement of imports. Regarding the day for the five years of the union, he specified that it began on the first of the month and concludes on the 11th with an activity in Cacahual, and it is an opportunity to convene the promotion of productions, recognize groups, outstanding workers and companies, as well as perform tribute to Fidel, historical leader of the Cuban Revolution. For her part, Aleida Murillo Hernández, general secretary of the union section of the Carlos Rodríguez Careaga tobacco factory, belonging to the Torcido Artemisa Tobacco Company, stressed that in the midst of the pandemic the repair of the unit advanced and today, although some are missing departments to be finished, enjoy better conditions to work.
