In this region, the re-contracting of food that began in May continues, and it is expected to recover more than one million liters that would complete the 73 million estimated for 2021 in the territory, added Reinaldo Martínez González, a livestock specialist from the Provincial Delegation to the ACN. of Agriculture in Camagüey. Farmers already appreciate the benefits of meeting or exceeding their yields, as a result of the implementation of the measures that established higher rates, both for the milk they normally collect (7.50 pesos) and for that achieved above the plan, the latter valued at 9.00 pesos each liter. The specialist clarified that payments continue in the months of May and June, and the exchanges continue with the farmers, who seek a better explanation of the procedures and the payment of the productive results according to the regulations in force. Seeing the economic support in accordance with the fulfillment of the plans, many strive to reach higher volumes, which in the end brings advantages for the workers and the State. Camagüey has more than 9,000 producers who allocate milk to sell to the industry, Martínez González said. The vast territory, the largest producer of milk and meat in Cuba, is at 95 percent compliance with its general plan to date, which exceeds 37 million 200 thousand liters, and presents a deficit of more than two million. What is contributed by the cooperative and peasant sector currently means 79 percent of the milk of the entire province, accumulating 27 million 857 thousand 800 liters in the year, of the more than 30 million that it had planned. Roberto Reyna Rodríguez, in charge of the agri-food sphere in the National Association of Small Farmers of the province, explained that the transformations approved in the agricultural sector affect the increase in the daily delivery of milk, which today is more than 270 thousand liters. The rains of the previous months also help to improve the pastures and the availability of food in a general way, which together with the births and the correct handling of the dough, should affect the final balances of the calendar. Sierra de Cubitas, Najasa and Vertientes appear among the most advanced in registering overcompliance with their milk collection plans by farmers.
