In statements to Prensa Latina, the director of the organization that brings together the cooperative and peasant sector said that the 63 provisions, in force since April, in the practical order will allow a greater contribution to the nutrition of the people and the economy of the country, by putting us closer to self-sufficiency. There is still much to do, but in general there has been a very favorable reception, as they give the possibility of expanding the alternatives that cooperatives and producers have to diversify, access foreign exchange income and other aspects, he commented. The agricultural sector is aware that the only way it has to develop is by creating the conditions to produce more, in a balanced way, and to reach the established destinations, he added. Santiesteban said that the implementation of each of the measures will counteract the effects of the economic blockade of the United States on essential edges for agricultural production, such as access to the necessary inputs and resources. "We appreciate a greater comprehensiveness in the attention to the sector," he valued, particularly from the organizational point of view. Likewise, a very close link has been achieved with local development programs, so that cooperatives and producers, with their work, can become more involved in the interests of the province, the municipality and the locality, he added. Issues such as marketing and other elements still do not find the appropriate formula between the interests of the producers and the population, however, in the opinion of the president of ANAP, when a balance of the measures is made, there is recognition and appreciation within the sector cooperative and peasant. 'At the moment we are working on training, for which we take advantage of good practices and favorable experiences. There are places where logically the provisions are implemented faster, but our job is to continue the exchange and listen to all the criteria to propose any correction. ' The decrease in Covid-19 cases encourages the organization to gradually resume its assembly system, Santiesteban said, which is essential for that purpose. According to Vice Prime Minister Alejandro Gil, in a recent press conference, of 120 thousand tons of agricultural products that the country placed in the markets in the first half of the year, in August they reached 135 thousand and in September around 131 thousand ; "well below demand, but a recovery is beginning to be seen."
