Work related to food production occupied the attention of members of the 15 unions and members of the National Association of Innovators and Rationalizers in Santiago during this weekend, as a salute to the upcoming 83rd birthday of the Central de Trabajadores de Cuba (CTC).
La República Organoponic Base Business Unit, in the main city, concentrated the largest number of mobilized people who contributed hours in filling flowerbeds for tomato planting. Said agricultural structure is designed for the supply of vegetables to the city of Santiago de Cuba and has ample potential yet to be properly exploited to sustain a flow of items such as pepper, cucumber, lettuce, beans, among others. In addition to La República, a site to which the CTC and its unions are regularly linked in this southeastern province during productive work days, volunteer work was carried out in other parts of the Santiago geography during the weekend. In Segundo Frente, for example, local forces went up to the hills to give their contribution to the coffee program, in Contramaestre they were mobilized in the area of ??Los Bungos, an area that was once lavish in terms of citrus plantations and that today is intended for the promotion of various crops, while affiliates of Palma Soriano were in the local dairy industry.
