Nueva Gerona, Cuba. - In the Isle of Youth, the workers of the Mella Cítricos coffee plantation intensify cultural attention to the plantations to leave them in better conditions with a view to the harvest at the end of next October.
Narciso Díaz Alonso, head of that crop in that territory, referred, about these tasks and repercussions on the development of the crop, which currently do manual cleaning and apply the agromenas, a new granular fertilizer with a positive impact on the plantations.
About the investments made in this productive scenario of the Special Municipality to achieve efficiency in the coffee harvest, Díaz Alonso said that a new dryer is being built with the support of the producers.
A prolonged drought at the beginning of the year caused a delay in flowering, so yields are subject to this problem, although cultural attention is reinforced.
