More than 28 million polypropylene bags for packaging exportable products and for national consumption were manufactured by the textile company Luis Augusto Turcios Limas (Sarex), sources from the sector reported today.
The industry, located in this capital city of the central Cuban province of Villa, from the beginning of 2021, had to reduce a work shift as a result of the outbreak of Covid-19, but guaranteed the delivery of bags to the Azcuba business group for sugar packaging, one of the main exportable items in the country. It also fulfilled its commitment to deliver polypropylene sacks with the National Salt Company (Ensal), the only mining entity that extracts, processes and makes salt in Cuba for human and manufacturing consumption and an important reduction in imports. Yohanka Martínez, head of production of the entity, said that Sarex also fulfilled the forestry contracts with the manufacture of utensils of different sizes for the bagging of high-demand charcoal in several European countries. She pointed out that if the Covid-19 pandemic remains under control, the industry is in a position as of 2022 to practically double its productions.
