Production of honey, wax and propolis grows in Cienfuegos
The production of honey from bees, wax and propolis, in the cooperative and peasant sectors of the province of Cienfuegos, grew from January to date, compared to the same previous stage, as a sustained fulfillment of the plan was achieved.
So far this year, beekeepers associated with southern cooperatives accumulate almost 160 tons of honey, more than 2 nil kilograms of wax and 150 of propolis; indicators in which the producers of Rodas, Cienfuegos and Cumanayagua stand out. Cienfuegos has about 8 thousand beehives and 42 beekeepers, concentrated in two cooperatives of Agricultural Production, the "8 de Marzo", from Rodas and the "Abel Santamaría", from Cumanayagua and in 18 of Credits and Services, with representation of all the municipalities, with the exception of Lajas. Denis Cordero Estopiñales, official of the Provincial Bureau of the National Association of Small Farmers, explained to the Radio that the yield in honey is 20.4 tons per hive, higher than that achieved in other units that produce the exportable ruble in the territory of Cienfuegos. , and that ensure compliance with the annual plan.
