Traditional Syrian Honey Festival started
Damascus, Jan 18 (Prensa Latina) With the motto of Honey, Food, Medicine and Healing, the second edition of the traditional Syrian beekeepers fair began today in this capital.
The activity is hosted by the Al-Jalaa sports city, organized by the Arab Union of Beekeepers, in cooperation with the Syrian Ministry of Agriculture and Agrarian Reform.
Mohamad Hassan Qatana, minister of the sector, highlighted the importance of the fair as it constitutes a stimulus and encouragement to beekeepers to return to this profession affected by war and terrorism and that it implied the reduction of 600 thousand hives to 350 thousand today.
He added that five honey testing centers are established in various provinces, and that the event allows the exchange of experiences between 34 participants from the public and private sectors.
The fair will open its doors until the 22nd with appropriate restrictions against the Covid-19 pandemic and compliance with the appropriate prevention measures.
