Las Tunas.- With the collection of about 205 tons of bee honey, the beekeepers of this eastern Cuban province broke the productive record of their history to fulfill their commitment to the country and prepare for the next semester, the date on which they harvest the largest number of tons of this line.
Satisfied with these successes, the bee honey producers surpassed the planned plan for the first semester with three tons and in the month of June they were able to recover the delays caused by the climatic adversities that affected the province in the first months of year.
As argued Waldo Torres
Stoll, director of the Apicultural Base Business Unit (UEB) of the territory,
“an excellent result was achieved in the course of the previous month, since
until the end of May the accumulated plan had been in breach of 17 tons;
however, with a historical record in June of 44.5 tons, the 27 planned for that
month were met and with the rest such a victory was achieved ”.
In this sense, the head
of this sector here reported that the derivatives of this exportable line, wax
and propolis, also fulfilled their collection forecasts, while exceeding the
figures that in the same period of the previous year.
To reach these rates,
the territories of the northern part of the province greatly influenced, which,
highlighted in these tasks, together with the capital municipality, Majibacoa
and Jobabo, allowed the objectives to materialize.
Torres Stoll explained
that this feat seemed impossible to achieve, "because from January to
April the intense drought influenced a large group of producers, who dragged
lags from month to month, but facing setbacks and applying new strategies
overcompleted the collection."
The construction of
more than 10 thousand 500 hives here has been significant, which, in the
opinion of the manager, will be essential for the large-scale preparation of
the last quarter, a stock that represents almost 60 percent of the total
production of a year.
"This has also
been the highest number of productive hives that Las Tunas has had, and this is
positive to face the last quarter, since it is the most awaited by beekeepers
since honey reaches its peak of harvest," he stressed. Stoll.
For the short-term projections, the director mentioned that his interests are now framed in the southern municipalities that do not generate great benefits and therefore do not honor the agreement. "Through the preparation, growth and improvement of the conditions of the apiaries, these modules will be able to fulfill their commitments and the productions will be guaranteed in a more accurate way," he concluded.
