Until the end of the first semester, more than 270 tons of honey from bees were collected in the territory, from a plan of 185.8 for the stage and the management of beekeepers indicates that it may be possible to fulfill the projections for 2021. At the end of this calendar, it is expected to accumulate 513 tons of the product, so actions are undertaken to improve the hives, the construction of new apiaries and the transhumance to the north and south coasts, in search of species of honey plants. As for twisted tobacco, so far this year some 586 thousand units have been exported, for 64 percent of the plan, because the country lacks the authorizations; that is, the inputs to finish the product, such as wooden and cardboard boxes and rings. Of charcoal, the province has an annual marketing plan abroad of more than 19,153 tons and the reality is far below, because worldwide purchases have been stopped due to the crisis generated by the new coronavirus. However, there are more than 1,600 tons in the processing plants, produced by the companies of Grains, Flora and Fauna, Agroforestry, Agropecuaria Las Tunas, Agropecuaria Jesús Menéndez and Empresa Integral Agropecuaria. Precisely this entity, in the process of becoming the first export pole of the Las Tunas territory, works on the identification of lines that can be sold outside the country or to trading units within borders. These proposals include vegetables such as okra, beans, beets, carrots, peppers and tomatoes, as well as melon, mango, Persian lemon, hot pepper, cowpea, charcoal briquettes and products made in industries and mini-industries.
