"The Cuban people will win"
During a regular meeting of the press with the Governor of the province of Santiago de Cuba, Beatriz Johnson Urrutia, and the trade authorities in the territory, the status and development of the basic food basket was analyzed.
In this sense, the guarantee of the products of this was confirmed, as is the case of the arrival of the rice, which despite the end-of-month itinerary, the reserves have been released in order to be received on time. In relation to the complaints generated by this, the quality was highlighted, which depends on the origin or provenance of the import. It was also emphasized that, in general, every month chicken is replenished by around 2%, with figures between January and February of 23 tons to cover what was lacking in this meat. Likewise, it was stressed that those consumers who have not obtained the product can report it to the Commerce structures, because by this date the supply must be covered. Another concern of the population is related to the quality of the coffee, since it does not come 100% from Santiago, due to technological and raw material problems. Hence, at the moment it is received from other provinces, whose grain is not the same as that produced in the Eastern region. Dissatisfaction with the sale of products released due to lack of availability is another aspect related to the state of opinion of the Santiago population. In this sense, the limitation of resources as a result of the coercive measures of the United States towards Cuba generates many socioeconomic ills accompanied by dissatisfaction. Despite this inescapable and systematic reality, the country's efforts to maintain and increase these supply levels are rising, and to enhance the role of self-sustainability in other sectors. In this regard, Johnson Urrutia stated that: “The blockade is genocidal, and with former President Donald Trump came a total asphyxiation. This constitutes a tangible reality, a policy, a strategy designed to dismantle the Cuban Revolution. “However, the best example of the capacity of our people is to have successfully undertaken the vaccine candidates in the midst of all this situation. Which has been a process of commitment, volunteerism, support and a positive response, as a whole historical experience. “On one occasion, Commander in Chief Fidel Castro said that the Cuban people will win. He had the ability to see beyond the present, and if he expressed it, I trust that he will. I am confident and convinced that we will overcome difficulties, "he concluded.
